Happy Birthday to Me!
Yesterday was my birthday! I am stretching it out into today, as my dad is having a get together for me. This will be the first time in 23 years that my dad has been around for my birthday. I am 37 so you do the math. Anyway...Tim took me out to dinner at Los Reyes where they made me wear a sombrero and shake the shaker thingies (can't think of the word for them) while they sang Happy Birthday to me. Then I got CAKE. Cake is one of my favorite things. I always ask for a strawberry cake for my birthday because strawberries are really good this time of year. It is my favorite. A close second is yellow cake, chocolate icing. Then Tim took me to see The Da Vinci Code. I read the book twice and the movie was very entertaining. Yes, I know it is a controversial movie, but I don't get into all of that. It was entertaining and thought provoking. That is as far as it goes for me. Today, Tim and I go shopping for my present. Yipppee!! Presents for me!

Does the movie go along with the book? We are going to be in a Debunking Da Vinci Code class starting this Wed. and I haven't read the book, so I thought I would run and see the movie. I am more of a Mary Higgins Clark / Stephen King / Harry Potter kind of gal.
It does follow the book fairly closely, although it goes much more in depth in the book. I enjoyed the book tremendously. I used to enjoy Stephen Kin, but in my older years he just scares the heck out of me. I love, love, love Harry Potter. I have not read Mary Higgins Clark. I enjoy the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Envanovich. Stephanie is a bounty hunter who is clumsy and hapless. They have titles like "One for the Money" and "Eleven on Top." Anne George is another good author. She has a "Southern Sisters" series about a pair of old lady sisters who solve crimes. It is set in Birmingham, AL. Fun, light stuff.
hmmm, I may have to check those out. D has brought me a couple of Laurie Notaro books, they are next on my list.
